In the process of moving, I'm finding lots of uses for my Ziploc-style baggies:
- Pens, pencils, markers, etc. - We have pounds and pounds of assorted writing and marking utensils, seriously. I've been using gallon sized bags to sort these out and contain them.
- Small toys - Again, a gallon bag is great for all those little army men, magnet toys, small action figures and all their assorted weaponry, etc.
- Puzzles - Gallon sized, again. We have at LEAST two United States puzzles that have lost their boxes during their tenancy here. They now reside in a baggie.
- Office supplies - we have a bunch of erasers to go with all those writing instruments. I rounded them all up from my desk drawer and got them into a sandwich-sized baggie. Now that can just go "plop" into the box of office supplies. Would also be good for rubber bands, staples that escaped the box, etc.
- Gathering scattered items - we have several things that have gotten scattered, such as game pieces, Quidditch balls, playing cards and more. Baggies make a great storage container until you can collect all the pieces. And if the container is lost, they can just stay there!
I just use the cheap dollar store baggies, no need to spend a lot of money for these uses! What other great uses can you think of?

We use ziploc bags all the time for these types of things! They are better than sliced bread, aren't they??
I have switched many of our puzzles and board games to ziplocs. Those boxes just do not hold up to children.
Oh I love ziplocs!

We use them for traveling snacks, for loose change, for BOX TOPS, for the last few batteries in the package, for organizing extra lipsticks/blushes/etc within the makeup case, and on and on!
Thanks for sharing your tip!
Ziploc bags are fantastic! I love buying the 3 pack at Costco. Nothing makes me happy quite like having two spare boxes of bags in the pantry.
But then, I'm funny that way. Thanks for sharing!

Good tip, we are moving in Dec!
Yes, they are great!! I probably should use them for my daughter's toys and such =)
I am so glad someone invented Ziploc baggies. We use them for lots of things. One of my favorites is when traveling to keep the toiletries together and keep them from leaking out onto the clothes..
I love ziploc bags!I even put individual outfits for each of my toddlers in one for the diaper bag and if they need a change you put the dirty ones right in the bag.Love your site & thanks for visiting mine.
I go through boxes of all sizes each month--the Target brand, though I'll check out the dollar store size/quantity next time I'm there--thanks for the tip! Not move-related, but I use ziplocs for travel--toiletries go in gallon size, toothbrushes in the quart size. For a recent trip to Disneyland, I packed several quart size ziplocs with complete outfits for each kiddo and squished the air out--a poor man's Space Bag. They fit easily into a backpack and I didn't have to worry about stopping the fun when the Baby had a diaper blowout or my son spilled an entire Coke on himself :)The soiled clothes went into the empty bag and we went on with our day.
I love ziploc bags! We used the giant ones for moving recently, to hold everything from clothes to gift wrap. A lot were ripped in the move, but they are still useful for storing things that don't need to be water/air tight, but that do need to be kept together.
